Gary Barber and Kinsman Stable’s Strong Quality won his second start Feb. 19 for trainer Mark Casse at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. The 3-year-old son of Quality Road is out of the Kinsman homebred Tiznow mare Tiz So Sweet and was a $500,000 purchase by agent Justin Casse at The November Sale, Fasig-Tipton’s premier breeding stock sale in Lexington, where he was consigned by Lane’s End.
Ridden by Adam Beschizza, Strong Quality pressed Scotland Yard , who set fractions of :23.99 and :48.45 for a half-mile. On the second turn, Strong Quality moved closer to the leader and took over as the pair entered the stretch. He finished the 1 1/16-mile maiden test with a 1 1/4-length advantage in a final time of 1:44.11 on a fast track.
In his Jan. 23 debut, Strong Quality finished third after not switching leads in the stretch of a six-furlong maiden special weight over the same track.
Strong Quality’s second dam is grade 2 winner Sweet Fervor , a half sister to millionaire graded stakes winner and sire Concerto; grade 1-placed, graded stakes winner Illusioned; grade 1-placed winner Wondertross; and grade 3-placed winner Granting.
